...First person puzzler...
Headcase is a personal project that I started in 2017 to help me learn the new Godot PBR renderer (that was pre-alpha at the time).
It started life as a simple exercise in modelling the 2d Godot logo into a 3d version using Blender, and texturing it in Substance Painter.
Shortly after that, I started creating a basic room and some props to house the head model in. One thing led to another, and over time I had a fully playable
little demo game. I learned some valuable lessons in an efficient PBR workflow and how Godot worked, that I could apply to other games.
The basic gameplay is based on games like Myst, Witness and the Room, with puzzles to be solved in a first person 3d navigatable world. Since this is merely a demo and not a full game it can be completed in under 10 minutes.
Stay tuned for news about an episodic game in this same genre that is currently in the planning stages!
The full project file will available for download (when it is finished!) to study as an educational resource (aiming for Q2 2018). It will be licensed under the CC BY-NC-SA license which means you can do anything with it for non-commercial purposes and any derivative works must carry the same license.
